What is an LED face mask?

An LED face mask is a type of light therapy that is placed near the face for a prolonged period of time (anywhere from 2-50 minutes).

LED facemasks emit various color frequencies such as blue light, or red light, and can be coupled with infrared rays to aid in skin rejuvenation.

What does it do for your skin?

LED face masks are used to reverse signs of aging, amp up your skin’s collagen production, heal bacteria that cause acne, psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema—and can help decrease physical pain in the body from conditions such as arthritis.

According to Skinney Med Spa, blue light “helps normalize oil production, has a deep cleansing effect, protects against infection, reduces congested skin, [and] is ideal for people with adult acne.”

While red light helps “stimulate the body’s natural production of elastin + collagen, improve skin tone, correct hyperpigmentation, and leaves the skin glowing.”

How long does it take to see results?

Some results can be seen immediately, while the full results can be seen after three days.

Continual treatments spanned across the time period of a few months is recommended to see maximum benefits—and according to Skinney Med Spa, “most patients enjoy their results for 180 days.”

How can you maximize the benefits?

Pair your LED light treatments with a healthy exercise routine and an anti-inflammatory diet. The sweat will push out any remaining toxins lodged in your pores, and the anti-inflammatory diet will help keep your skin radiant and smooth.

Where can you get it done?

Any med spa, or at home with an FDA approved mask.

Note: It is recommended that you use goggles to cover your eyes to prevent vision impairment.
